South Indian chicken gravy

Chicken and potato gravy


Ingredients:

Chicken    - 1/2 kg
Onion     - 1 ( finely chopped )
Tomato   - 1 ( finely chopped )
Ginger & garlic paste  - 1 tbsp
Chillie powder   - 1-1/2 tbsp
Turmeric powder  - 1/4 tsp
Dhaniya powder   - 1 tbsp
Dry red chillie    - 2
Curry leaves   - 10
Coriander leaves ( garnish )
Cinnamon stick  - 1/2"
Cloves    -2  
fennel seed ( saunf )  1/2 tsp
Potato    - 1 big (peeled and cubed )
Oil      - 3 tbsp
Salt to taste

Method:


  • In a non-stick pan add oil wait for a while then add fennel seed, (saunf) cinnamon stick, cloves, red chillies (brake it into 2 and add) saute for few seconds.
  • Now add chopped onion, curry leaves saute for 3-4 min till onion turns light brown. In this stage add ginger and garlic paste saute for another 2 min. Then add chopped tomato, chillie powder, turmeric powder, dhaniya powder and saute for 2 min.
  • Now add chicken and potato cubes add little water and salt. Cover the vessel and leave it to cook for 20 min( on low flame )or till the chicken is tender.
  • Add coriander leaves and serve hot with rice,idly, dosa and chapati.
